__Welcome to the online version of the Certified Arkansas Farmers Market or CAFM for short. We are a source verified market meaning we aim to do a on-site inspection of all farmers who are members of CAFM to insure only Arkansas farmers use our online market, as well as our outdoor markets. (CAFM, Inc. is a non-profit 501©(6) business.)
CAFM, Inc. operates two outdoor markets, in Argenta (North Little Rock), and Searcy as well as our cafm.locallygrown.net online market. The outdoor markets are held May thru Oct. each year. Remember that the CAFM ONLINE Market is open all winter! U-P-D-A-T-E-D WINTER CAFM-Online order pick-up hours begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:30.

For the winter season, pickups of online orders are only being done on Saturdays at the Argenta CAFM Market. *The next scheduled pickup will be Saturday, March 20, 2010. Look for us in the summer market lot, or, if the weather so requires, inside the building right next to the usual Market pick-up lot in the 500 block of Main Street. WINTER CAFM-Online order pick-up hours begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:30.

A new cut to us, this is an uncured, unsmoked roast cut out of the center of the ham(most tender part). The roast in the picture is a 4.67lb roast that is about 1.5" thick. We cooked it in the crock pot just like shoulder roast and it was really good.

Half a Hog - Gloucestershire Old Spot Grower: Freckle Face Farm

The best way I have to offer half a hog through the market is to make a "no-less than guarantee". What you will receive is no less than 85lbs of pork. Upon purchase I will email a list for you to choose the cuts that you desire, to include breakfast sausage and or smoked meat. Not included in the 85lbs but also available, at no extra charge is the fat(if you want to render lard) and organ meats. The price includes the hog, all processing(wrapped in thick white freezer paper)and delivery. Vacuum packed is offered for $25 more. From order until delivery is about 3 weeks.
If you would like, I can also send you a picture of your hog, on our farm.
The Gloucestershire Old Spot is a traditional breed renowned for its tender and succulent meat due to a high level of marbling throughout. Once revered for this high-fat yield, the GOS served as an important producer of flavorful meats and lard. Through the efforts of individuals, small farms, and orginaizations such as the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy the breed is making a comback as we rediscover
what "real" food is.
Our pigs are born and raised here on our farm,outdoors free of hormones and antibiotics, with pastures to graze, dirt to root and woods to forage.

We are glad to now have a "medium" in our sausage, it definately has a little heat. This sausage came from the new USDA processor we used this last time, who we are extremely pleased with. When dropping off the hogs I was so excited to have some one that would take the time to go over all the cuts, make suggestions and explain the why and why not's of butchering, I forgot to ask what was in the sausage mix. As a disclaimer I feel the need to tell you that the mix contains MSG and some preservatives. Ideally I would like an all natural sausage and we will work with the processor next time to insure this is the case.

After centuries of selective breeding, both in North America and Europe, the Bronze turkey is a direct descendant of the turkeys found wild throughout the United States today. An uncommon breed, the Bronze turkey is named for its unusual color, a shimmering green-bronze, which appears metallic in the sunlight. We believe these turkeys are superior to other breeds in survivability and advanced flavor. They are active foragers, and do very well in our pasture production system. Of course, they’re charming too with a calmer, more easy-going disposition than more commercially popular breeds. Since these beautiful, delicious birds can take as long as 6 months to grow, we raise only one batch every year.
